Chuck Hickey

Treasurer (2028)
Chuck lives in north Thornton and has worked in a variety of communications roles, including newspapers, television stations, digital outlets, and city government. He has been officiating football for 20 years, but his passion for officiating began much earlier. As a child, he regularly accompanied his father, a high school football official of 40 years in Southern California, which sparked a lifelong interest in the profession. In addition to high school football, Chuck served as a swing and fill-in official in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference for five years. He has also been a certified high school basketball official in Colorado for 11 years. Chuck began officiating varsity football in 2010 and has primarily worked as a back judge. He has officiated seven semifinal games and has had the honor of working three state championship games: 4A in 2016 as a back judge, 5A in 2020 as a back judge, and 4A in 2022 as a field judge. In 2025, he became a crew chief for the first time. Each year, Chuck makes it a priority to officiate numerous subvarsity games as a way to mentor newer officials and support their development, with a focus on improvement and retention. He is passionate about working with both new and veteran officials to continually improve the craft, ensuring the highest level of service to schools, coaches, and athletes. Chuck is humbled and honored to give back to the association by serving as an area director.
