About the DFOA

About The Denver Football Officials Association

The DFOA is a chapter of the Colorado Football Officials Association (CFOA).  At the state level, DFOA is designated as Area 1.  The DFOA is the largest football officiating group in Colorado with more than 35 years of serving Colorado schools.  Our 180+ active members officiate a wide geography of football in the Denver metro area, mountain schools and eastern plains.  We provide officials for 102 public and private  schools, across ten different counties and work in conjunction with the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) to provide those services.

Our members officiate middle school through high school varsity football games in three to seven person crews depending on the level of play. Seven person crews are used in post season games only.  Training classes are provided each year for new officials and we mentor those that want to move up to college and beyond.  In fact, we have a proud heritage of our officials moving up to the RMAC (DII) and Mountain West / Big Sky / PAC-12 (Division I) NCAA conferences.  There are three DFOA alumni currently working in the National Football League.

The DFOA is a certified non-profit entity and approved by the IRS as charitable organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.  Verification of this status is available upon request.  For any additional information please contact one of the DFOA Area Directors.
