2019 Winner Coach larry tarver

DFOA would like to congratulate Coach Larry Tarver as this year’s Ben Gregory award winner.  Here is a brief summary of his football coaching career.  Coach Tarver was an assistant football coach from 1974-80 at George Washington High School. He moved to East High as head football coach, PE teacher, and head wrestling coach in 1981. Despite a winless season in 1981, Coach Tarver  compiled a 103-43 record at East in 15 seasons. East made the state playoffs in 13 of those 15 years, including a semi-final appearance in 1984.  His 86 team had four All State players and one All American. Three of Coach Tarver’s players played in the NFL.
